SUMMARY:
Gotham Ghostwriters, the country’s premier ghostwriting agency, is looking for a dynamic storyteller and strategic thinker to continue expanding and enhancing the visibility, reach, and reputation of our business.
We are a small disruptive company in full growth mode. We have assembled the largest network of longform writing pros in the country — more than 3,000 book ghostwriters, speechwriters, white paper whizzes, and other assorted specialists. The depth and diversity of our network — along with our sterling reputation for delivering high-quality content and service — are attracting an expanding list of authors and thought leadership clients (Fortune 100 brands, top entrepreneurs, global advocates, etc.) who need expert help telling and selling their stories. We are specifically looking for earned media results in consumer-facing outlets.
You are a driven, versatile, self-starter with a real passion for the written word, a deep knowledge of and interest in the publishing industry, and a strong entrepreneurial streak. You have a history of developing and leading communications strategies and executing successful initiatives with measurable results including marketing campaigns, social media efforts, and events. Above all, you are excited about the opportunity to unleash the Ferraris parked in our garage at full speed and help us realize the agency’s full potential.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking to engage someone who will do for Gotham what we do for our clients: create engaging, insightful, value-adding content that showcases our authority, elevates our brand, and ultimately spurs premium clients to seek us out. The right person will revel in having a broad mandate to raise our brand awareness with our target markets – particularly in the thought leadership universe — and generate high-value leads for our different practice areas.
In particular, the Communications Director will be responsible for:
- Working with our CEO and practice leaders to shape editorial approach, creative voice, and overall brand strategy. Key facets include weekly and monthly newsletters, social content, thought leadership opportunities for our team, and a wholesale rebrand initiative to integrate a sister brand.
- Taking the lead, in a hands-on capacity, in developing the overall content marketing strategy, social-media strategy, and traditional marketing strategy, with a heavy emphasis on webinars, newsletters, and other events/channels that highlight our expertise. This includes our upcoming inaugural convention and awards program, slated for January 2024.
- Creating high-value content and thought leadership on the topics of publishing, book writing, speechwriting, platform building, and, yes, thought leadership
- Proposing, implementing, and tracking ROI of social marketing campaigns
- Expanding Gotham’s audience and elevating our platform to reaching prospective new clients.
- Managing the day-to-day distribution of original content via our own website/blog, social media platforms, and other distribution channels
- Executing all other traditional communications tasks: write and distribute announcements and press releases; secure press coverage for Gotham news when appropriate; seek out high-profile speaking opportunities for Gotham management
