Jeff Jarvis is Emeritus Tow Professor of Journalism Innovation at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York, Visiting Professor at Stony Brook University, and Fellow at Montclair State's Center for Cooperative Media. He is the author of seven books, including The Gutenberg Parenthesis: The Age of Print and Its Lessons for the Age of the Internet, Magazine, and — upcoming in early 2026 — Hot Type: The Magnificent Machine that Gave Birth to Mass Media and Drove Mark Twain Mad. He is the co-host of two AI podcasts, Intelligence Machines and AI Inside. In his journalistic career, Jarvis was president and creative director of Advance.net, the online arm of Advance Publications; creator and founding editor of Entertainment Weekly; TV critic for TV Guide and People; Sunday editor and associate publisher of the New York Daily News; and a columnist on the San Francisco Examiner.
